Carmela Solorzano in June became advertising director at the Yakima Herald-Republic, the newspaper reported. She had been adveriting manager and with the company in various roles for 17 years.

With local advertising gaining a larger share of the Herald-Republic’s revenue, there was a benefit in promoting someone who has deep familiarity with the Yakima Valley business community,  Publisher Bob Crider told the paper. “She’s invested in the community, and she’s invested in the company,” Crider said of Solarzano. “And she’s invested in our customers.”
