PNNA 2008 Print Quality Winners

PNNA has announced the winners of the 2008 PNNA Print Quality Contest Awards. Judging was done by California Polytechnic State University's Graphic Communications Department in San Luis Obispo, headed by Harvey Levenson, Ph.D.

Awards are given in first and second place in two circulation categories, under 25,000 and over 25,000.

  • First Place Circulation 25,000 and over:The Bulletin, Bend, Ore.
  • Second Place Circulation 25,000 and over: Yakima Herald-Republic, Yakima, Wash.
  • First Place Circulation under 25,000: The Chronicle, Centralia, Wash.
  • Second Place Circulation under 25,000: The Grants Pass Daily Courier, Grants Pass, Ore.

Skagit Valley goes to 75 cents

The Skagit Valley Herald in October raised its single-copy price to 75 cents and Sunday price to $1.50. Home delivery prices were not changed. It was the first single-copy increase in nearly a decade, the Mount Vernon paper reported, attributing increases to the higher costs of fuel, newsprint and ink.
