WENATCHEE, WA — The Wenatchee World is pleased to announce the hiring of Janine Bakken as its Director of Finance.  In that capacity, she will oversee all financial affairs for the 23,000 circulation, family-owned daily newspaper in North Central Washington.

Ms. Bakken was previously employed with JPMorgan Chase (formerly Washington Mutual) for 16 years.  She most recently was First Vice President and Director of Finance and Accounting for the company’s Global Call Center and Retail Operations in Seattle.  

“Janine is a dynamic, results-driven financial professional, who is a strategic thinker with a demonstrated record of creating best of class finance operations,” said Rufus Woods, publisher of The Wenatchee World. “She believes passionately in the role of newspapers in our society and will be a fabulous addition to our management team,” added Woods.

Ms. Bakken earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Western Washington University in Bellingham and is a licensed CPA.  Janine and her family are in the process of relocating to the Wenatchee Valley from Snohomish, Washington.
